The Comeback > The Setback

March 26, 2019

A few months ago, I took a much needed break from the social world. This including social media outlets & blogging. I felt like I was suffocating in my own thoughts & feelings. I went through several changes that just left me drained, overwhelmed, and flat out exhausted. During this time I realized that not only am I an over-thinker, I’m a huge negative thinker.  A pessimist as most would say.  Negative thinking is a common trait to those who suffer from anxiety. Which means often times, in most situations your brain naturally anticipates the most possible worst outcome. Talk about a... View Article

Trusting The Transiton

March 26, 2019

Chiiiilleee…. (in my best Sarah Jakes-Roberts voice)…… 2019 started of Roc-ky! The first few months have been filled with a lot of transitions & changes both expected and unexpected. Oddly, the moment my lips uttered to complain, God reminded me of my ‘18 end of year prayer. Each year for the past four years, I’ve brought in the new year at church followed up by intimate private prayer for new goals, new mindsets,  & new opportunities for the upcoming year. I no longer make “New Years Resolutions” because let’s be real…after a few weeks those die off like afterthoughts in... View Article

Halfway Mark: 5 pivotal things I’ve learned so far this year.

June 25, 2018

      1. How to separate Expectations from Reality.  If you’re anything like myself, you tend to put a lot more hope/faith into people than they’re usually deserving or capable of fulfilling. In the end, it’s usually you who ends up equally dissatisfied and disappointed. I’ve always had a hard time wrapping my mind around the fact that people don’t have the same heart or think as I do. There are many instances where I would react/act a certain way and     subconsciously “expect” someone else to do the same. I’ve quickly noticed how much it affects and... View Article

This is for them 20 somethings…

May 10, 2018

This year, roughly towards the end of August I will be approaching age 27. My sweet parents and family love to remind me that I’m hitting the “30” mark. Subconsciously hinting at grandchildren, marriage etc. Not to mention logging into social media outlets and at almost every refreshed screen there’s an engagement video, newly discovered creative gender reveal display, people you graduated high school with going on family vacations with their own husband and child(ren), and others basking with joy in thier masters or continued education graduate photos. Certainly you’re happy for them, but you’re also reflecting over the goals... View Article

All Summer ‘18

May 4, 2018

How many times do we go back and forth, year after year with things we “plan” to do in the summer. Whether it’s trips we want to take, new summer body goals, lay on the beach with Drake’s -Nice For What- vibing through our ears, or for most of us it’s simply just catch up on some rest! Rest…what is that? If you’re anything like me, the meaning has become far-fetched. I remember having a recent conversation with a really good friend about if they could rewind to any age what would it be & why? Their response was “17”,... View Article
